Thinking about getting surgery

Hello everyone,

I have been struggling with my weight problem for a long time and it has now reached a level that makes my daily life difficult. After trying diets, exercise, and medications, I have become quite worn out both physically and psychologically. I have been researching bariatric surgery for the past few months, but the decision-making process is harder than I thought.

I really want to have the surgery, but I have both fears and many unanswered questions in my mind.

Doctor selection, lifestyle changes before and after the process, types of surgery, complication risks... Everything is bothering me. If there is anyone among you who has gone through this process or followed it closely, can you share your experiences?

Which surgery did you choose and why? How did your daily life change after surgery? Were there any points you wish you had known earlier?

The support and sharing here will be very valuable to me. Thank you all in advance.

Sometimes people blame themselves, like "why can't I be consistent?" But over time I realized it's not about lack of willpower; the pace of life really affects you. When you're tired or your mind is full, your body reacts very differently. Hunger and appetite get mixed up, motivation drops, it becomes harder to maintain a routine.

Small things started making a difference for me, for example:

  • Preparing small meals that aren't ideal but don't completely derail me
  • Not being hard on myself after a sleepless night
  • Learning to say "today was bad, I'll try better tomorrow"
  • Noticing that even a little walk helps my body recover

But still, ups and downs continue. So I hear you, this is a very familiar feeling.

If you want, we can talk, maybe it will lighten the load a bit together.
